Issue #1 has received over 500 combined views/downloads (between its downloadable PDF form and its home at Scribd). Another thanks to our first contributors for providing such great material, and to our readers and future contributors for keeping us going.

18 Days Left

Only 18 days left until the submissions period for Two-Bit Magazine Issue #2 is over. We’ll have a preview of the cover for Issue #2 ready for you before too long. Thanks for all of the participation, the response for Issue #2 has been overwhelming.

Apologies for the Delay

We recently had a delay in response for the past week or so while the editor was moving 500 miles down to Virginia. Things are back on track. So again, our apologies. We look forward to reading your work!

Article: Poets can lie.

In my short time as an assistant teacher for Intro to Poetry, one of the questions that kept popping up with my students was whether or not poetry had to be autobiographical. There seems to be a general assumption that whatever a poet writes is truthful.

Article: Joyce Carol Oates on the Writer’s Persona

Just so you know…

In the month of April 2010, when submissions for Issue 2 opened, we doubled the number of visitors to our website from September 2009, when submissions for Issue 1 opened.

We were excited to see this, and hope the trend continues. Tell your friends about Two-Bit!

Interlude: Bill Murray Reads Poetry to Construction Workers

Also, via the internet, to you.

It has begun.

We recently sent out our first wave of letters.

I’m going to use this post to serve as a reminder that if we’re taking a little longer to get back to you, then it’s probably a good thing. Due to the volume of submissions, it can take some time! With Issue #2, though, we’re going to try and reduce the amount of time it takes to get back to the people whose work we would like to accept. So keep an eye out.

Thanks for all of your continued support!
